The Van Hest Family owns and operates these 5 locations of the Art Knapp Plantland chain of Stores. Frank and Elisabeth Van Hest immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1958. Moving to Richmond in 1965, they opened the first of the Art Knapp Plantland Garden Centres the family now owns. ‘Rooted’ in the family business, sons Pat, Tim and Roy have ‘grown’ the business as they have expanded to new communities. Art Knapps prides itself on carrying the best selection of quality plants, and having friendly and knowledgeable staff that help customers achieve success in the garden.

Art Knapps is proudly Canadian, and community focused, supporting many local schools, sporting teams and community initiatives. Check us out at the Steveston Salmon Festival, where we sponsor the annual horticulture show.
